The unhurried manicure
Laurel & Linen is a six-chair nail room off Church Street. We shape to the nail you have, build gel that grows out cleanly, and give the appointment the hour it actually needs.
- Hospital-grade Sterilisation, logged
- Single-use Files & buffers
- HEMA-free Lines on request
- Six days Tuesday to Sunday
The room
Six chairs, one standard,
no conveyor belt.
We kept it small on purpose. Six chairs means the technician who starts your set finishes it, and nobody is being moved along to make a slot free.
The work is structured gel: a properly prepped nail, an apex built where it belongs, and a free edge thinned so it grows out instead of lifting at week two. It takes longer than a fifteen-minute polish change. It also lasts about three times as long.
- Every tool through an autoclave, with the cycle logged
- Files, buffers and orange sticks opened in front of you
- Pipe-free pedicure tubs, lined fresh for every guest
- Extraction at every station, so the room does not smell of it
What we do
Six disciplines,
one pair of hands at a time.
Every service below is priced in full on the services page, including how long to set aside for it. Scroll the strip, or read the list.
The appointment
What an hour
here looks like.
Four steps, every time, whether you booked a polish change or a full set. The order does not get shortened when the room is busy.
-
We look before we touch
Two minutes on your nail plate, your cuticles and how the last set grew out. If what you have asked for will not suit your nail bed, we will say so then — not halfway through.
-
Dry prep, under magnification
Machine prep rather than soaking, so the plate is not waterlogged when product goes on. Cuticle work is done under a lamp, which is the difference between tidy and nicked.
-
Shape and build
Shaped to your nail bed rather than a stencil. Where we are building, the apex goes where the stress point is and the free edge gets thinned, capped and sealed.
-
Finish and aftercare
Oil worked into every cuticle, a look at the shape in daylight, and a card telling you what to do in week two. Rebooking is offered, never pushed.
Recent work
From the last few weeks.
A cross-section of what the room does, from bare and buffed to hand-painted.
Three weeks in and not one lift. Nobody has ever explained my own nails to me before.
Where & when
