About us
A small room, run properly
What we do, what we use, and the standards we hold ourselves to — written down, because "we're very clean" is something every salon says.
The short version
We wanted somewhere
we would go ourselves.
Laurel & Linen opened because the choice locally was a fifteen-minute polish change or a two-hour spa package, and nothing sensible in between.
We took a small unit off Church Street and fitted six chairs into a room that could have held ten. That decision is the whole business. Six chairs means the technician who starts your set finishes it. It means nobody is being moved along to free a slot, and it means the person doing your cuticles is not also answering the phone.
The work is structured gel and hand shaping. That is slower than the alternative, and we charge accordingly — but a set that grows out cleanly over three weeks costs less per week than one you are back to fix on day nine.
We are not the cheapest room in Vienna and we do not pretend to be. What we will do is tell you honestly when a cheaper service is the right one, and turn work away when what has been asked for would damage your nails.
- 6Chairs in the room

The room
Built around the light,
not the till.
Every station faces the window. That sounds like a design choice and it is really a quality one — colour matching under warm downlights is guesswork, and cuticle work you cannot see properly is cuticle work that nicks.
There is extraction at every seat, so the room does not smell of monomer, and the pedicure chairs are pipe-free, which means the part your feet touch is a disposable liner rather than plumbing that can never really be scrubbed.
Standards
What "clean"
actually means here.
Written down so you can hold us to it, and so you can compare it with anywhere else you are considering. Ask to see the autoclave log — we will show you.
- Metal tools Scrubbed, ultrasonic-cleaned, bagged, then autoclaved. Each pouch carries an indicator strip and is opened at your station, not before.
- Files & buffers Single use. They go in the bin in front of you at the end of the appointment, not into a drawer with your name on it.
- Pedicure tubs Pipe-free, with a fresh disposable liner for every guest and a full disinfectant cycle between appointments.
- E-file bits Cleaned and autoclaved on the same cycle as hand tools. Carbide bits are retired on a schedule rather than when they look worn.
- Wax Hard wax, single-use spatulas, never double-dipped. Pot liners changed daily.
- Air Source-capture extraction at every station and an air exchange running through the day, so dust and vapour leave the room instead of settling in it.
- Products HEMA-free systems available on request. Tell us at booking if you have ever reacted to gel, and we will change the prep as well as the colour.
- When we say no We do not work over infected, broken or lifting-with-moisture nails, and we will not add length that your nail plate cannot carry. You will get an explanation and, where we can, an alternative.
What we use
Fewer products,
chosen properly.
We carry one gel system, one builder, and a short colour wall. Not because there is nothing else out there — because a technician who knows one system deeply gets better results than one juggling four.
- A single professional gel system, cured on lamps matched to it
- HEMA-free alternative kept in stock for sensitive clients
- Cuticle oil made with jojoba, because it actually absorbs
- Unscented options throughout for anyone pregnant or sensitive
- Nothing tested on animals, and no acetone poured down the sink
Aftercare is included, not upsold: you leave with oil on your cuticles and a card telling you what to do in week two.
In their words
What guests say
I came in with nails that had been peeling for two years. They talked me out of extensions, put a builder overlay on instead, and by the third rebalance I had my own nails back.
The hour is actually an hour. No one is hovering, nothing gets rushed at the end, and the pouch of tools is opened at the table in front of you. It is the only place I have been where I did not have to ask.
Booked the Friday late slot for my sister's wedding party — four of us, one room, no chaos. They matched the shade to a swatch of the dress and it held through the whole weekend.
